The global 2010 Adidas World Cup campaign centered on Zinedine Zidane an his search for the world’s best players, all told as a graphic novel. It kicked off during the 2009 Champions League final with Zidane’s first discovery: The Spark.

CHAPTER ONE

The Spark

Starting with The Spark, each chapter of Zidanes journey introduced another player, his special talent and of course his matching adidas boot. Over the course of a year we highlighted the different player types in TVCs, animations, graphic novels and finally brought them all together in the EA FIFA 2010 World Cup game.

The Serach

The 2nd chapter of Zidanes journey was published as a graphic novel. Introducing The Powerhouse, The Lighting Strika and The Maestro. Each story highlights their special talents and of course their Adidas Champions League collection boots.

A Shirt with a Story

Building the excitment around the world right before the tournment we launched the national jerseys of all the Adidas federations as a part of Zidanes story.

CHAPTER SIX

The Quest

At the start of the tournament a live graphic novel - called the Quest - was lauched as a interactive digital experience. Fans are invited to participate in daily match ups on Facebook to predict which player will lead his team to victory.

With the Live Quest adidas crated a painted journey of the World Cup. Fans could vote for their moment of the day. The winning moment was painted over night by Espior Kennedy and Paul Junior Kassem.

All paintings where displayed in the Adidas Media Center and auctioned off on eBay to support the Nelson Mandela 46664 foundation.
